A Neighbourhood Plan is our community’s opportunity to shape and guide development that will take place in our area and make sure that it is appropriate to our needs and aspirations. We can have a real say in where it goes and how it looks!

Neighbourhood planning helps town and parish councils to prepare a plan for their area, in close consultation with residents, businesses and other local organisations. Neighbourhood Plans are for the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of everyone in the community.

The first step was to determine what most concerns the residents of Bishopstoke so that those issues can be included in the Plan. To that end, a questionnaire was sent to every household in Bishopstoke. All the information gathered has been looked at and the results are available here, or by clicking the button below.

The next step is for the steering group to use the results to help bring forward a vision of how Bishopstoke residents see Bishopstoke in the future. A series of objectives will be pulled from this vision - specific aims that could form part of the Neighbourhood Plan going forward to help us achieve this vision. Once the steering group is happy with the vision and objectives, local residents will again be consulted, and the results of that consultation will be used to confirm or modify what we are hoping to achieve.

Once we are happy that the vision we have for Bishopstoke, and the objectives included in it, are shared by the people of Bishopstoke, we will then move forward to create specific policies that will be included in our Plan, and (once the plan is approved) will form part of the planning guidelines for our area.

This website will continue to be updated as progress is made in creating the Plan and having it approved.
